Creating Solar Jobs for Northwest Indiana
In partnership with IBEW Local 531, WorkOne, Just Transition Northwest Indiana, Michigan City Sustainability Commission, Millenium Solar Training Academy, and Green Alternatives, Inc.
Benefits: Apply for free 24 hour solar training, 16 hour CORE Construction training Receive $300.00 stipend upon completion.
Once completed, applicants have the potential to go to on the job training with non-union companies and the potential to register in the IBEW local 531 apprenticeship electrician program. Completion of Tier I also offers students the opportunity to proceed to Tier II and Tier III Trainings within the Soul Power Program.
The Program Offers Three Levels of Certification
- Level I – OSHA -10 Training and Certification -Requires – 24 hours. Includes online and in-classroom instruction.
- Level II – NABCEP PV Associate Training and Certification – 86 hours. Includes online, in-classroom instruction, and hands-on training.
- Level III – NABCEP PV Installation Professional Training and Certification –
Six (6) months. Includes online, in-classroom, simulation lab instruction, and on-the-job training.
Certifications are stackable. In other words, the level I certification applies to level II, and the level II certification applies to the level III certification.
